These potatoes come in a number of varieties, all with a naturally sweet contents. When baked the sugars within sweet potatos turn into a rich syrup, resulting in a yummy energy filled base to be added to other dishes.

Sweet potatoes have a fantastic vitamin content, especially vitamin A, but also a good selection of various essential minerals. When compared to white potatoes, beware of the glycemic load that sweet potatoes present due to their higher sugar contents.
