Hi Ray. Chains can stretch, but if you have the chain installed properly and well-tensioned, it should not be coming off. I would recommend you contact Milwaukee service or take it in to be looked at. Good luck with the issue!

Update: the Makita chain fits well and seems identical to the original one in aspect. I look forward on testing it in practice.

Hello again. I have tested the Stihl, 61 PMM3, 3/8P, 1.1mm, 40 cm chain, unfortunately it is not compatible because it only has 55 drive links instead of 56. On its box it sais < 40cm, not 40. So unless you are willing to make a new support hole and cut the lowest 1" of the rail, it will not fit. However, I have changed it with a Makita 40cm, 3/8". 1.1mm, 56 which does have 56 drive links so this one should be fine. I will test it at the 1st opportunity.

Thanks for your thoughtful insights on the saw, Xaeus. As you obviously know, keeping the saw properly adjusted is key to having it operate properly – and safely. I’ve had the same experience with the oil consumption, and previously contacted Milwaukee to see if there’s a way to adjust the flow; there isn’t. With enough feedback, maybe they’ll remedy that on future versions. Thanks for the great feedback!

I’ve been occasionally using this. So far I’m satisfied with it. I have 2 other 9Ah batteries that I usually use for anything under 120mm, while keeping the 12Ah for the big stuff. Even 5Ah batteries work for light stuff and I have plenty from my other tools, so I could end up doing cuts a whole day if needed. No chain popping as I adjust it correctly and re-adjust when necessary. Accuracy is very good, control is prefect when cuts end; I could not even accidentally injure myself. I have replaced part of the main handle with textolite 3/4 bars since the handle was broken (I got it like that from the person that had it before). The only drawback I see is the excessive oil consumption. It could of used an adjustment screw like many other chainsaws have. If anyone has an idea on how to make adjustments for the oil it would be great. Since the engine is brushless there should be no problems on the long term with it, the only thing users would have to do from time to time is re-sharpening the chain and keep it overall clean after use. Also, from what I could determine, Stihl, 61 PMM3, 3/8P, 1.1mm, 40 cm, 36100000055 is a fully compatible chain (16.3/8 and 0.43ga) so I want to order one to have as backup, since it’s very cheap anyway.
