Same here. Did the 5x16x5 work, or is 5mm too thick?

It just broke yesterday, made a terrible screeching sound. Took it apart and it turns out the rear motor bearing went out, just is in pieces. It’s a bit of work to get the motor out and disassembled, but if a new bearing bearing fixes it, I’ll be delighted!
If anyone is interested, the bearing measures 5 x 16 x 4 mm. 16mm Wide x 5 bore x 4 high. Can’t find it, so I’m going with a 5mm x 16mm x 5mm ceramic bearing, should work. It’s pressed on. The actual bore width measured was 4.95mm, it is a press fit.
Fair enough, I live in the desert and beat the hell out of it, but it’s held up very well.

The stock head was garbage, I got an Echo head and it’s been perfect. It likes the 5 amp batteries, but runs on the 3 amp ones too, just not much life.
I just looked at your pictures, and it looks like mine! All the holes are covered with grass. Plus mine gets beaten by small pebble and sand.
This has as much power as a gas trimmer, without all the fuss of gas tool maintenance. Not terribly heavy either.
